I'm helping a friend with his Quad am8/16 which is a mono amp used by the BBC to power one of their monitor speakers, we want to test it but need to make a lead up from phono to 3 pin xlr. I'm having a complete mental block of how to wire one up, can anyone give me a point in the right direction?
Cinch centre pin to XLR pin 2, cinch shield to XLR pin 3. If there is no other ground connection (no connection via protective earth, for example), cinch shield also to XLR pin 1.
Almost finished this now but want to check adjustment however I really don't understand db measurements! I get that at 6khz the signal from the HF amp needs to be 9.1db higher than the LF amp? But anything else I have no idea on, can anyone help guide me through?
