Years ago I started building a MOSFET amplifier designed by Randy Slone called the OPTI-MOS amplifier. Randy died a few years back and now everything about his amp seems to have died with him, although I see some very old posts about his amps going back about 20 years that have long been closed. Is anyone around that built one of his amps? I'd like to finish mine - it's mostly done - but I may have lost the parts list. Did anyone here build one and if so did you like it? I'd love to hear some feedback if there is any out there.
he has books that are available from amazon (and also very likely your local library - mine does and I'm sure it's not unique). there's thread here where people talk about their randy slone amp projects. in general, just stay away from his complementary symmetry design with current mirrors in the diff stages and you'll be fine 🙂
I have his books and I used to think they were really good but like you said I've since heard some bad things about some of his designs. I emailed him years ago and he seemed helpful but then I read he died of cancer and I had started populating a couple of his OPTI-MOS MOSFET circuit boards that I purchased from him. I was planning one finishing them 'one day' and one day became a year became a decade and now I'm wondering if they're worth bothering with. I have the schematics in a box somewhere but I figured they'd be online somewhere so I start I googled around last night figuring I'd find something but I came up empty. Here's a picture of the chassis I built for the two circuit boards I bought and started to populate:

You have a nice enclosure there. The heatsinks must've cost quite a bit. Have you looked into Bob Cordell's Hafler DH-200 conversion? If you have the right FETs for it, and a large case, then it'd go nicely into that enclosure. I have Sloane's 'high power amp' book. It's good. I find it hard to imagine that any of his designs will challenge the Cordell one.
