What happened to the Alert blue dots?

What happened to the Alerts blue dots? They were very handy to indicate new posts vs old posts. Now I have to check all my Alerts to see if there is a new post.

@steveu can you post a screenshot? There are two issues - icon framework was changed, and colors defaulted to dull greys. It depends where you were looking. Let us know!

I see that the red dot with the number of Alerts disappears when I click the bell and does not come back, even if I log out and back in again, as if I had read all the alerts.
