Do you know how inaccurate and crazy it is too calculate the parameters of a speaker?
There is not even a closed form for the Navier-Stokes equations.

This has been an open problem for more than a hundred years, and you think an equation can help you design a speaker? 🥹
Trail and error. That is the only effective off-peak principal 😎

A nice opening to provoke responses. Good luck with fishing.
One can definitely end up in the mud when making errors on a trail ! 😉

Such a warm welcome on your post. Sorry OP.
The more experienced here won’t bite and I for one have no clue why you post such opinions. Maybe you’re a bot, maybe not. Feel free to explain.

If the OP can land one of these, it would benefit research as it seems not much is known.
PS Having spent a career of gainful employment betting my keester on precisely N-S calcuations, I have a certain perspective and raised hackles. But I also agree that hearing must win and we are each our own judges.
I like to point out the limits of mathematics. Did you know there is no closed form for the length of a sine wave? This is one of the most fundamental objects in nature. The basis for huge stores of human knowledge, and we can't even calculate its length, only approximate.Feel free to explain.
This is when the theory exists. Did you know there is no accepted theory of turbulence? A scientific idea which heavily influences speaker design. There's nothing to solve, because we can even decide how it works.
It's my opinion that better results can be achieved through common sense, than with simulations.
Thank you sir for keeping an open mind. But I also agree that hearing must win and we are each our own judges.
Like you might find near a reflex port. Where else might you find it?turbulence? A scientific idea which heavily influences speaker design.
Well, nature doesn’t bring us exact sine waves either. Ever heard of effective theories?and we can't even calculate its length, only approximate.
I like to point out the limits of mathematics.
Have you ever used any simulators designed purposely for speaker design?
Rob 🙂
Can you think of a reason you might want to know the length of a sine wave, and does it matter that there is no closed form solution? I can think of a reason we should know the circumference of an ellipse and there is no closed form solution for that either, but we can get as close as we want numerically for either one.
Common sense isn't. The only limit for mathematics is the imagination you don't seem to have.

I think it's a fundamental misconception believing that mathematical models do or claim to entirelly tepresent reality.
Mathematical models are used to model aspects of reality in a required or sensible accuracy. Some model still need to be invented or developed.
By the way: what's the connection with multi-way?

Closed form: The solution can be written as a finite combination of elementary functions - sine, cosine, exponential, etc, and their inverse functions.can someone explain me what is ment with closed form open form?
The alternative is no solution, an infinite series, or some other none analytic function.
I like to point out the limits of mathematics.
Thank you for that, such a relief i wasn't aware.

Opinion is nice, everyone as one. Same with... but i disgress.
So common sense should be the mother of all invention, that's it? Hmm... how do you define common sense?
It have always been a struggle to define it in human sciences ( psychology, sociology,...).
Last time i've seen something starting like that in real life it ended defending earth is flat as the guy never experienced earth curvature by himself and it was all a conspiration...
I will keep on using a computer to simulate things, thank you.
By the way do you think it's common sense and trial and errors which made you able to type your opinion over the web? ...or application of mathematic's theory?
