Recommend 4" for sealed 2.5 (100-5000Hz)

Hi,

Anyone have any recommendations for a 4" driver that will be happy sealed and can cover 100-5000Hz well in 2.5-way DSP crossover, available in Australia for no more than $175AUD per driver?

@mayhem13 recommended the ScanSpeak 10f-4 but I can only seem to find the 8ohm here.

Thanks!

I have used the SB Acoustics SB12MNRX2-25-4 in the range 300 Hz-3 kHz with good results.
It is optimised for mid-range duty, shortened voice coil, p-p linear travel 4.4 mm, power handling 50 w.
It is well behaved on axis up to 5 kHz. Response falls below 250 hz but if used in a 2.5 way, the lower woofer could supplement output below 250 Hz.

A pair of 4” won’t get you to 100hz sealed…..no way no how……i recommended 5.25-6.5“ for a 2.5 way

A parallel pair of these with an inductor will do it for you

…….but your gonna sacrifice all of that good sensitivity of your Fountek……prepare to pay up for some amplifier current

Inductor, each driver will be driven by it's own amp?

The subs are that small I could probably find a way to get them under/over the speakers, toe them in and crossover a little higher, not sure how the sub's rear firing woofer will impact the sound at say 160Hz.

The Scanspeak 10F-4 is definitely more of a midrange than a midwoofer. No bass at all. The 8 ohm version is closer to a full-range. Very flat speaker response tho. Super easy to work with, and works nicely with 1st order crosses.

I have the 10F-4 in some mini monitors , and it is a great driver, but I regret getting the 4 ohm version. However, I plan to reuse those 10Fs in another upcoming project as the midrange, and rebuild my mini monitors with a differed midbass(likely a SBA or Wavecor driver).
