I was wondering if anyone here has ever built an SE amp around the 8005 or 572 triodes?
I know Wyetech Topaz had their amps some time back.
They seem like pretty decent powered triodes.

572 is difficult to drive because it needs to be biased in class A2. I don't have direct experience with it. I used MOSFET drive 8005's grid and got 10W of power output.
572 is in current production but 8005 is scarce. 🙁

Wow, very nice what OPT did you use?
I have several 8005's on hand, was trying to think of something to do with them.
Do you have a schematic of what you used?

It was an experiment some time ago. So, I don't have complete schematic.
I used 10K transformer for testing. I had Pete Milett's A2 buffer to drive 8005's grid positive. The tube was biased around 650V 65mA.
