I didn't know it existed. Would have gone there last fall if I had known:

That looks like stiff I saw when I was a kid. Why are you calling it retro? It was just yesterday it seems.
For those in the Pacific northwest a good opportunity to remind about the S.P.A.R.C. museum in Vancouver, which hosts a huge selection of radios spanning a hundred years across consumer, broadcast and military applications.

Actually, some of the photos resemble a section of the local Goodwill store here.
It's a nice museum, worth a detour. They used to be at Soesterberg Airbase which also was home to 32nd USAF fighter wing, supporting various middle east missions. After the cold peace broke out the base was eventually decommisioned, the US wing relocated and the museum had to find another home.
Lelystad Airport is being pushed as an overflow for Schiphol Airport due to green flight limits, but it hasn't really taken off yet (literally speaking).

When I passed Lelystad airport a while ago I noticed airplanes getting maintained but no traffic whatsoever. Rather strange after a renovation costing 214 million Euro. Surrounded by a crazy amount of windturbines too.
Its political. Comissioning a new airport in a crowded country like NL is frowned upon.
They want Schiphol to draw down, not to move flights to another sensitive area in the country.
I have some sympathy. But Schiphol is a big moneymaker.

Yes it is also a big polluter and the kerosene fumes are around everywhere there. Someone apparently decided Schiphol is an international hub with 1370 airplanes per day.
In the green dream we all have to endure air transport is an outsider in many ways. It is simply unfair that kerosene has no VAT and that air traffic pollution numbers are height dependent certainly with such crowded airports.
