Currently shopping the 8" full range market......found these.....specs and FR are encouraging for OB/sealed and both appear easy to drive.
Found some info here and other locations regarding the Monacor; but not much regarding Teramps (I suspect they have more of a car audio following)
First the Teramps....then the Monacor

Interesting input @CPTX : they seems to be in the same range as the VISATON BG20 - cheap but not bad at all !

Troels used to have a project for the SP200x on his site. Long gone now, but the wayback machine is your friend 😉

Note that the SP-200X is a different driver with different specs and a very different frequency response.
SPM-200X/4:

It was also tested by HobbyHifi. The editor, Bernd Timmerman, suggested it offered more than acceptable performance for the very low price, but that was also the limit of its performance. It simmed wel in his 2nd generation Jericho backloaded horn, but he indicated it would be a bad idea to spend so much money on wood and build time if you would use such a cheap driver. However, when I look at the Hifi-Selbstbau measurements, its off-axis response measurements are quite neatly stacked, as Floyd Tools recommends. It intrigues me.

I've heard the LP210.38/N140 and it was amazing, excellent resolution and dynamics, very high spl. They acted as tops above 15" subwoofers in a bar. If you don't want subs, they are usable in BR too but don't go so far down, very low Xmax (1,5mm) though. The best you can do with them is to put them in a horn or use them as tops. They work nicely in "Das Viech" (BL horn, German forum), they got their own thread too. Around 100€.
The Sica LP208.38/1100 4 Ohm is also very good, a bit below the other Sica, ferrite magnet (instead of ND). They have a higher Xmax (2,5mm) and are quite a bit cheaper, ~70€.
Both got a 38mm VC (!!!!), very good impedance control and can take 200W.

Those wizzer coned "full range" drivers are terrible sounding things.Fine for use in ceilings in shopping centres but not much else.
Well if you are going to do it some of the really cheap ones are no less awful [and often better than the expensive ones like Lowther].You do not need to spend more than $20.
Indeed these are one of the better sounding ones for $26 Australian .There is a big thread on Stereonet about them.Certainly better than Fostex etc.
