Hello, my brother has a minor issue with his amplifier (ural warhead 1.1800), the clipping light on the remote comes on, but the sub doesn't get hot and doesn't sound weird. What could be faulty? IIRC there should be a comparator comparing the rail and output voltage, right?
Not planning on fixing it any time soon, just wanna know which component could be faulty.

You can't hear early clipping. You need to view the output on a scope to compare the clip indication with actual clipping.
He can turn it up a lot after the light has turned on without any noises coming from the clipping.
Just an insight into my case. Clipping detection circuit can become faulty. I had this happen with my Crown XLI. After some debug, it was found to be a faulty JFET in clipping detection circuit which needed to be replaced.
