If you buy from facebook marketplace make sure you can go along see the item and pay for iythere.
Just got scammed.
I bought an item and paid via paypal straight away with given email address.
After a few days seller asked if I still wanted it.
I said yes its paid for.
Seller came back and said I had paid wrong email account.
So onto paypal to make a claim.
Person with wrong email address said he had a receipt for the item with my name and address on it.
It looks 2 or 1 people in cahoots pulling a scam.
Will just have to see what paypal do.

Unfortunately most of the second hand market has moved onto that platform and Gumtree is an absolute shambles to search and use. I don't have a Facebook account but still use Marketplace via family accounts as you can't register a sleeper account just to use the market.
I hate it but if I want to buy used gear (not just audio) I have to use it. In fact I just bought a pair of floorstanders off there for my son last week. However, I always buy in person using cash.

I use Facebook Marketplace a lot. Recently I tried to use it to find an exterminator. I came across a scam I had never run into, it was obviously someone in Southeast Asia trying to act as a middleman to FIND a local exterminator for you.
In the end I wound up not using FM at all but just a brick & mortar company.

In the end I used ebay as its got more protection. Why would anyone use facebook anyway?
Ironically got item for half the price !
ePay has gone down the tubes, though. Especially from a seller's point of view. It seems the various 'markets', including Amazon, are converging to be some form of AliBlahBlah. Purveyors of cheap crap.In the end I used ebay as its got more protection.
