Gentlemen,
i do not understand the search function here. Today I wanted to look up Hasling, a Danish name.
Even if put in parenthesis, it will turn up lot of results which have nothing to do with the original
phrase. The results are for HASL, an abbreviation I do not know and has no connection with the
name I look for. This is not the same as with a Ggl search, so what is going on here, how can I
adapt to this strange routine ?
Thanks.

This is due to ElasticSearch word stemming. It falls into the "this is a feature not a bug" pool of problems.
HASL is a common printed circuit board finish.
The search will be thinking that words with the suffixes of "ing", "s", etc and seeing instances of the root words as what you're looking for. It also knows "foot" is the same as "feet", "mouse" is the same as "mice". In this case it is incorrectly concluding that people searching for the verb hasling are also interested in the noun hasl. It's a bit of a unique case with a word (your company name) that ends with "ing" but isn't a verb.
We will be upgrading the search soon when we upgrade the site to XenForo 2.3. It will feature search auto-type and hopefully some more customisation options. Currently we don't have any way to resolve this other than adding a stop word to the index which will remove it completely from all searches. I'm not sure removing HASL from the search index would be more beneficial than hurtful, in this instance.

The elastic search is not elastic enough to find Hasling -hasl or "Hasling" -hasl ..
I know that the name can be seen in this forum. Connected with the first name
and in parentheses it works. Eager to see what the future brings.
