I purchased an IanCanada HdmiPi some time back, and finally decided to try to get it running. I've got a Pi 4B running the latest piCorePlayer. At this point I'm not running a separate power supply or Fifo in the system, but I am using a DIY linear supply to power the Pi.
According to the docs I've found, I don't need a special driver. However, I'm unsure which Output Device to choose for the hat to transmit I²S via its own HDMI port. I notice that this unit has additional HDMI options beyond "HDMI Audio". I've tried all of those, with variety of corresponding "Output Settings" for each. However, none seems to transmit I²S to my Wandla DAC.
Any words of wisdom?

I just build one of the Ian Canada flagship compact streamers with the HDMIPi Pro II. I understand you don’t need to use the Ian power supplies, but my understanding is that you need to use the Fifo for the clock signal. What are you using for the clock?
On your question, I use Volumio, not pCP, but if it’s similar, then I did not have to do any drivers or settings - the HdmiPi outputs only I2S - nothing else. I just had to let Volumio know that a Generic I2S DAC is connected.

Thanks for your comments.
The documentation indicates that I can either use it as-is (just plunked on top of the Pi), or I can incorporate a Fifo module of some type. I was hoping to do a basic proof-of-concept before considering further upgrades.
Squeezelite (running within piCorePlayer) requires that I specify both the "Audio output device" as well as an "Output setting". For example, these are the settings when using USB:
I've tried a few options for the Pi 4 that's got the HDMIpi MkII attached, but nothing seems to emerge. I've also tried changing various I²S options on my DAC.
