I acquired a pair of vintage subwoofers; MB Quart QM340CX. I’d like to install them in my ‘83 380SE. But, I’m looking for a vintage-style installation. In the past, it’s popular to install subwoofers in infinite baffle style, put the subwoofers on the rear parcel shelf. I’m so interested in it.
Is there anyone still installing the subwoofers on rear parcel shelf in these days? Also, are my subwoofers suit for rear parcel shelf installation?
T/S parameters of the QM340CX:
Impedance 4 Ohm
Re 3.4 Ohm
fs 44.2 Hz
Qms 8.51
Qes 0.77
Qts 0.71
Le 0.89
Vas 55.8 Liter

IB, sealed same-same; IOW the driver's effective Qt sets Qtc in sufficiently large cabs.
Unfortunately, I don’t have their owner manual.Did you try to find an owner's manual for the woofers you have to see what they suggest?
Probably not with today's high power/high Xmax subs; i.e. some years ago a neighbor put two JBLs in a Honda Accord's shelf and I warned them this might blow out the rear window, which it did. Fortunately it didn't break, but messed up the trunk lid's finish a bit.Is there anyone still installing the subwoofers on rear parcel shelf in these days?
