Anybody here familiar with the Realistic 40-977?
I've just got a pair and I'm wondering how best to mount it in the baffle.
Just eyeballing ; it seems to be a single unit and the rear housing for the resistors seems bigger than the faceplate

I'd normally drill a hole the size of the front level control ring, round the outside of the hole and rear mount the unit.
That said, it looks like the pad might fit through an octagonal shaped hole and still allow the bezel to cover it.

Normally yes, but these have a bevel in the screw hole and that normally indicates surface mounting. Maybe I need better pliers to grip the rotary dial and pull harder?
Hi Moondog, I suspect you need to remove the knob then the nut to release the pot should be accesible...
