Hi, new here. I would like to build my first OB and I maybe got carried away and purchased all of the components for the Monacor Katana. However could some kind soul give me the dimensions of the baffle and the sides/bottom with the correct angle to match the original design? Does the baffle need to be acoustically 'dead' or can it be any material of the correct size. Was wondering whether one of the new composite finished cement render board/laminated, (ply-like) boards would work? Thanks, Brian
Welcome to the forum Brian.
Few things I know about speakers is that you make the baffles as 'dead' as possible.
Good luck.

Thanks Hugo. Thought that would be the case. This ceramic material is really that type and I believe that I can machine it too. I am still hoping someone out there may actually have built a pair of the Katana kits and can measure the size of the components as the literature does not actually state the sizes of the individual components all I have are the drivers, and crossover components etc at this stage.
There are total dimensions in the building instructions:

I guess it's this one:

I would build the components according to the dimensions you see on these picture.
I don't think it's that critical for an OB.
As an example, the width of the front panel is approximately double the diameter of the woofer.
With a bit of calculation you could find the total height and so on.
@stv : you were quicker and more accurate 🙂

Hi, Yes I could ask Monacor, not sure they would oblige, but who knows! I know the baffle size from another thread, but was thinking that the angle of the speaker as set by the side panels would be important and this I have not found. Again height could be found out from scaling the picture given the baffle size I have.
