Since i bought durango, i was curious about parameters of its audio. Mainly fr response. First durango i got was with beats system. Sounded boomy. Horrible nasty resonating sound. Just like beats brand headphones.
I returned the car under warranty for other reason. New one i got has premium alpine 9 speaker system. However it sounds the same. Not better.
So i measured fr response with rew.
Next few post are results. Pretty self explanatory.

This is what i got with flat eq settings, all other effects turned off. Umic in driver head position. Volume at dashboard remained in my normal settings, position 19. Equal balance for front and rear speakers.

Well, no wonder it sound like headbanging teenager setup. Imagine if someone turns bass up. Disgusting. This is how it comes from factory.

Here are some other plots at lowest bass settings. Still bass heavy, but unless i insert 20 ohm 100watts resistor before the subwoofer, it has to do.

At the end, i have bass turned all the way down, and mid and highs lifted 3bars. That is least painful sound out of this system before i modify that awful subwoofer.
I thought car manufacturers do listen to their products, i guess not. This is clearly unacceptable, only tailored to certain brain dead population.
