It depends on where you get it from. Digikey, Farnell, Mouser etc. are all usually genuine. It may also be available from some vendors in cities like Bombay, Bangalore etc. I've had it from a vendor in Bangalore, original.

You can buy the real LM3886 directly from TI or through their network of distributors, including Mouser, Digikey, Newark/Farnell, et al., so it's never made much sense to me to deal with the shade tree parts pushers.
