Tube of felt in port?

I see that in some of Trols' speaker designs, he lines the port with felt. I assume this creates an aperiodic port? Acts somewhere between the size of the original port and the new stuffed port?

I tried it on my 2-way floorstanding speakers, and I liked the result more than fully plugged ports (I rely on my sub for the really low stuff.

It lowers the port output and tuning frequency. I use it sometimes, in the cases where port length does not fit in enclosure or it gets close to the wall.
Thank you. That is the case here. Both are less than 10 inches from the way, and the right speaker is boxed into a corner. Not ideal, but only setup that works for the space.

You need to fill the vent to push it aperiodic.
Ah, ok. I will try again with the rolled up full stuffing. I am using the Frostking denim insulation. Easy to work with and pretty inexpensive.
