Hi,
I am debating on building budget centre, surrounds and atmos speakers using arrays of 4 Peerless TC9FD. I would be using small closed boxes for them with DSP.
From what I see, 4 of them in series+parallel should give me the same impendance as 1 speaker and should then comfortably go to 120Hz(where they would be crossed) - I only play up to 90dB max.
Am I missing something or is this a good idea?
Alternatively, I could use SB12PFC25-4-COAX, but including crossover only 1 of them would far exceed the cost of 4x TC9FD(I only have 1 channel of dsp per speaker avalable for each).
Thanks for your help in advance.
Fronts are Bliesma t34a+aluminium 6.5 Purifi.
Bass is 4 separate Scans 32Ws

I would build another purifi/bliesma as a center…. But you probably don’t want to hear that……..
You will have a seamless wall of sound instead of a center plus fronts.
I've had a 4 x tg9 array and it was good for what it was.
I think it would need to be crossed higher, say 200hz, for sitting 10' away.
100hz to 150hz plus voices = gargle
Now, 3 fronts each with 4 x tc9's (with baffle step) crossed at 200hz, that'd be pretty sweet (to me).

When I started in HT, the big thing was to use the same drivers between LCR to keep the tone essentially the same and blend well.
also, running 4x TC9, you will have combing problem, plus the fact that I guess you will run them horizontally, which has its own problem, not to mention that having four of them will create a beam limited to the line of four.
Go with Norman‘s suggestion, and make a similar speaker as your LR, just forego the bass drivers. Can keep it sealed and small since you only need to reach 120Hz.

A vertical array of 4 x tc9's (or tg9's), out at a 10' listening seat, you have about a 1' vertical sweet spot for the highs.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will go for the purifi then, although not very effective economically 😉
In a surround setup, the most important speaker is the center. This is where the dialog happens and also a large amount of the main sound.
I'm planning to go good but cheap on all the surround speakers, using exciters (DML) panels. It will produce a more diffuse sound field which in a smaller room is beneficial. Todays receivers will be able to level the frequency response. Another plus will be the WAF factor, as they can just be painted same color as the wall.
Haven´t done it yet so can't report the experience, yet.
