Basic Advice on Enclosure Requested

Hello,

Because of an upgrade from a 2TD, I have 2 crossovers and 2 LD25K drivers from CSS. Rather than the MTM, I was thinking of buying two midwoofers (LDW7) and building a ported bookshelf speaker (one midwoofer, one tweeter each). I have built a couple of speakers from kits but have no idea about designing an enclosure. In looking around I found the speaker box enclosure calculator on this site, entered the Vas, Fs, Qts and it spit out .9 cubic feet with a 7 inch long 2 inch port. My newbie ask is if there is advice about dimensions and locations in order to put all three holes (2 drivers and port) on the front. Thanks.

I found information on your chosen driver, which may be helpful: https://www.parts-express.com/CSS-LDW7-7-Midwoofer-290-3002?quantity=1

My newbie ask is if there is advice about dimensions and locations in order to put all three holes (2 drivers and port) on the front.

If the port pipe is to be front mounted then make sure it is shorter than the internal enclosure depth by 2 or 3 inches.

If that makes the internal volume too large when combined with the height and breadth dimensions you require to accommodate all three openings, you can construct an L-shaped port with the help of a right angled pipe coupler. The effective length of an L-shaped port is the distance through its centre.

Other than that, I would arrange the three openings vertically in line, with the tweeter as close as possible to the midwoofer, and the port opening at least 3 inches away from the midwoofer.

If you require any additional help, please furnish more detail.

P.S. A quick calculation shows that an enclosure of internal dimensions 18" (h) x 10" (w) x 9" (d) would give an internal volume of 0.94 cu ft, thus providing some necessary over volume to allow for the space taken up by the drivers themselves. However, that's simply a "starter for ten" to head you off in the right direction. Some tweaking may be in order!
