Im new to car audio, and I'm getting two 10s to run on 1200w, planning on wiring parallel at 0.5 ohm
What are some quality amp brands? I don't know what's good and what isn't, I've heard good things about taramps, but others have told me they suck. Also, their only 0.5 ohm amps have 3000w or more, which is too much power for my application.
Any suggestions?

There is virtually no manufacturer that doesn't occasionally have problems. There are no amps that don't have fanboys and people who will never say anything good about them.
Why do you have to run at 0.5 ohms?
Taramps is OK. I'd stay away from Brazilian amps (and their chinese clones) that deface their components so the techs have to guess (sometimes an educated guess) about the original parts.

I was thinking of 0.5 ohm total because in theory that would be louder than 1 ohm, and my electrical system can handle it. If I cant find a reputable 0.5ohm amp around 1200-1500 watts, then I'll just wire series-parallel and take them down to 1 ohm instead
And thank you for the input

Both DVC and 2ohm.
In the previous reply, I said wiring in series/parallel at 1ohm, but that would come out to 2 ohms instead

That's what I was questioning. Why not get an amp that will produce the desired power into 2 ohms?
There's nothing magical about 1/2 ohm. If you drive the same power into the speakers, the SPL will be the same.

I see. I thought it would be noticeably louder because of less resistance in the system, but if the spl isn't changing significantly then you're right, might as well run 2 ohm, less heat and more amp options
Before buying an amp, post what you intend to buy to see if anyone has any good reasons not buy that make/model.
