2 Tham 15 vs. 4 reflex 15

Hi. In your opinion what can play better / louder between 2 Tham 15 or 2 DUAL 15 reflex loaded (200 liter net tuned at 37 each) with the port in the middle? We are talking about 2 vs 4 sub, but some people told me that in a horn loaded configuration it will play louder. Cone will be Rcf LF15X401. Thank you

Ciao,

It will depend from your targets and the other box that will be integrated in your system, provide more detail about the entire system and people can help you more.

THAM (Tapped Horn - High Order design)
It will give you more SPL per box (+6dB), but the box will be bigger and the frequency response will be narrow.
Compared to Bass Reflex it will fatigue driver's cone tree times faster if the load on the cone is the same, but in general, due to higher compression ratio high order design tend to have higher peak. It can lead to unwanted noises and or earlier breakages.
For a small PA it's a very nice option when you are power/voltage constrained.

Bass Reflex
You get wider frequency response
Box are smaller
You get less SPL for the same voltage compared to Tapped Horn (-6dB), and this delta can increase in case of bad design leading to port compression and driver heating up more them expected.
