Bass bin upgrade

I Have a pair of ported bass bins with cheap 12” drivers , they are crossed at 900hz. The sound is somewhat “suppressed “ for want of a more descriptive term.
Thoughts please on using 2 x JBL 2225H per bin, one active the other as a passive radiator.
What size enclosure would be ideal.
