Dohmann Helix Mk I Power Supply and Motor

The power supply and motor were removed from my Dohmann Helix by Mark Dohmann when it was recently upgraded from a MK I to a MK II. The power supply case, internal parts are all in excellent cosmetic and operational condition thought the motor will need to be rewired.

These would make a fantastic addition to a DIY project.

Asking $500 OBO for the lot plus shipping.

Payment by wire or PP F&F.

Hi, When you say:

excellent cosmetic and operational condition thought the motor will need to be rewired (e.g., rewound, or hat the lead in/out wires are cut)

Do you mean the motor is defective and needs to be rewired or that the motor is no longer attached to the power supply and needs to be reconnected to it.

Hi,

Can I say “I’ll take it” pending some additional information from you?

Is it somewhat clear how this will need to be wired up? Are the wires all colored or numbered in some way?

Are there also cut wires coming out of the power supply? Are they captive?

Just not clear why the wires were cut…I’m sure there’s a simple explanation.

Also, I can’t find any indicator that there’s a tachometer on the platter or table with an additional wire on the supply. Can you confirm?

Thanks!
Max

Hi Max,

I’m not technically adept, but I’ll answer your questions as best I can.

The wires to the motor were cut to remove it from the Helix in order to install the new motor. The wires in the sheath are all color coded, so rewiring shouldn’t be too difficult.

The motor will need to be connected to the power supply. Whether there’s a component that sits between the motor and power supply, I’m not sure.

Here is a pic of the rear of the supply showing the available connections. Hopefully this helps answer the last question.

Lastly, the components alone are worth more than my asking price. I believe the motor alone sells for around $400. The power supply case is substantial and lovely as well.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Best,

Evan

Hi Walnut,
I have a helix one mk1. Does it worth to upgrade to MK2? How much does it cost? My mk1 motor has some slight noise (from closer listening), did you have the same issue with yours or it was completely noiseless ?
My Mk1 already has a carbon armboard as an upgrade.

Thanks for your feedback! 🙂
