A simple minded folk here.
I want to implement latest Hypex 500 or Purifi Eigentakt to fit my living room for tv watching(LG OLED) with a couple of speakers and a center channel (all of which yet to be purchased, except the TV).
I have no audio gear so I want to avoid purchasing an expensive Pre Amp.
I thought I could get away with a VTV Amp build, but there is no volume/remote.
Is there any need for a Pre Amp besides volume/source control in this scenario?
Is there any way around purchasing a >1000$ Pre Amp?

Typically, these amps need balanced input for maximum performance. You need a buffer that can take single ended RCA and convert to balanced and also provide some gain to match the level of the input signal to the amp. Typically these amps are relatively low gain (15dB to 22dB). You need to get it up to circa 28dB to 30dB to have proper dynamic range of home amplifiers. There are several DIY buffer options that do this.
