XS-Phono encoder

I kinda have to reach out and ask for some assistance here, because, being unable to go over tens of different optical encoders to find the one is a bit of a challenge for someone like me, a working class bloke 🙂. I am a couple of weeks away from starting a project which will need 1-2 encoders and I've always had a love relationship to mechanical stuff and especially mechanical rotary switches. I saw a video the other day of the XS-Phono which looked to have very nice ball bearing rotary optical encoders and while google does throw some hits if you search for it, I am sure there is a lot of hit and miss with that, so in an attempt at becoming a bit smarter about the choice, does anyone sit on information regarding what PASS use ?

Could you possibly be referring to "HP Agilent Avago HEDS-5640-A13 Optical Encoders" as an example. There are variations, but HP Avego HEDx type seem to fit the bill.

EC20A*** is no longer available and I am sure Wayne went over several models before settling on the HRPG variant - I trust that. Smooth "clicks" which gives a refined mechanical feedback 😉

I can't go over details as to why I looked into the encoder used in the XS atm, maybe can bring some light on the matter in the future.

LOL.. when it comes to the encoder, yes, as in one piece and for my decades long project, you are not too far off in terms of deciding what deserve a special place in my life . I've been looking at, reading articles, talked to numerous people and in the end, all roads lead to Pass and Wayne 😉. I am a sucker for triode harmonic profile distortion and if you want that is SS form, then this is the right place.
