Meitner DAC cloning, help needed

Has anybody here ever cloned or bought the cloning kit of the Meitner’s DAC?

It’s very difficult to find a Meitner’s in my location. But, I used to listen to it, the Meitner Idac-44, once and I cannot forget its sound.

Could anyone suggest ways to sourcing it, the Idat-44, either the original or a kit, please?

Buying the a/d/s DA44 or the IDAT44 will be a lot easier than cloning this.

The Bidat used Motorola DSPs, to handle the 2 different filter algorithms. I don’t see them on this board, but i see the EPROM for programming, so is the microprocessor the unusual chip between the EPROM and the Crystal?

the unusual chip you refer to, is actually a SOP many-pin package with a TO220-style heatsink slapped on. :^)

Is that SOP the DSP processor?

Pardon me hahah. It's actually a quad flat pack. I would think that's likely do be a processor of some kind, if it's not a memory chip. Since I can't imagine a memory chip needing more cooling than a processor, I reckon it's likely that it's a microcontroller/signal processor. I'll leave it up to OP/someone else to conclusively tell though. 🙂
