Went to Ascot show in the UK at weekend. Though may be interesting for some considering drivers:
High end:
Kroma Atelier Stella Xtreme: Purifi USHINDI Drivers: Damnnn, good.
Perlisten S7T powered by Primare: UsingSB Acoustics unknown Textreme: Damnnnn, good.
If going all out on a dream build worth taking a look at the above. Especially the Textremes that look much better in person than in online pics.
Special mentions for much cheaper setups that pound for pound sounded great after walking out of the top rooms:
Totem signature one: Looked like Dynaudio?.
AVI ADM10 actives: Main driver looked like a SB ACOUSTICS SB17NRX2C35 6” but not 100%. 8th order crossovers.
Crazy how much room acoustic treatment appeared to make a difference. Those that didn't bother were at a major disadvantage.

Perlisten develops and builds their drivers from the ground up. (why wouldn't they?)
The Textreme cones come from Composite Sound, not SB acoustics.
I doubt that Wavecor is buying any part of their drivers from Perlisten.

Your hopes for "hifi producers" developing and building they're drivers from the ground up, is in general not true.Perlisten develops and builds their drivers from the ground up. (why wouldn't they?)

There are some exceptions.
Most are OEM versions from known manufacturers.
And most of them are built in China, if not 90%+ of the parts and raw materials come from there anyways.
Regardless of hifi marketing bs.
Because it is like expecting a small sportscar maker to build their own engines and gearboxes or expecting a small craft brewer to grow their own barley and hops? They may do, but it's not super logical and it's certainly not a prerequisite for building great and differentiated products.Perlisten develops and builds their drivers from the ground up. A far less risky/slow/capital-and-knowledge-intensive approach is to buy off-shelf drivers or partner with a specialist transducer manufacturer to do slightly custom versions for you. If at any point their capabilities become a barrier to your growth and innovation then you can go at it yourself, but that very likely takes years of having products on the market before that happens.
Edited original post. Thought is was a Satori but the rear is certainly different. Whatever they are, they were very impressive. Unfortunately may not be available to us DIY’ers.
Rockport's drivers aren't SB Textreme either, FWIW. They've had them in use for a lot longer than SB has had them developed.
