Finally broke down and bought one of these desoldering tools. I have no idea why I waited so long. This is a godsend for me!

Mine fell off bench and broke in front of collection chamber, glued it back together with some plastic epoxy glue and works, looks ugly but still works. After you own one of these you would never go back to wick. To bad they don’t make a decent stand for it, the one they sell is still wobbly.
I got something less portable but I could buy 4 for the price of the hakko. Just couldn't justify the cost of Hakko.
