I have been doing some research on the 15" coaxials. Specifically those with a built in horn for the HF. My idea is to eventually replace the plastic horn with a wood biradial horn.

Anyways, so far it looks like these 3 are in the front runner.

Will be either a BR, or onken type of enclosure. Passive crossover initially.

I am looking for some input and also any additions to this list.

Thanks!!!!

Richard

BMS 15CN682 or 680 could be in the race. They benefit from a fairly low crossover point at 1200Hz and the annular ring diaphragm tweeter are really smooth sounding up to the very top (they require equalization though as they are not particularly linear out off the box).

I would suggest what’s more important or critical to the overall performance is that the coaxial woofer be limited to a passband response that begins only above 500hz. While sweep response plots showing woofer and HF driver are nice, the story becomes quite different if/when the woofer cone is playing bass and linear excursion is in motion.
