Just a thought exercise, because I already built a couple of 2-ways with both the Seas W12CY001 and the Vifa NE123-04W, and I've recently put them on to enjoy again.
I can't help feeling the Seas sounds more dynamic and alive but today their prices on the Excell range are crazy.
Today if you wanted to build a ultimate 2-way with a 4" mid-bass what would you choose?? Why?

-really it depends on what you want out of the design.
When I think of mid-bass I think of a pass-band comfortable to 50 Hz with at least a bit of headroom.
Tough to really do that with a 4” driver; so maybe Purify at great cost.
Something more reasonable? (w/ good bass-reflex design)

Oh yeah that Purifi is nice! I hadn't clocked they did a 4". Shame about the price.-really it depends on what you want out of the design.

Purifi 4” is the best. Bar none.
Powerful mid-bass, suitable for acoustic LR2 crossover for excellent in-room/power response.
Sound clean, punchy and clear at loud levels- much bigger than what a 2.5L speaker is capable of.
Here’s some measurements.

After long term listening I’ve realised there’s a small leak in the box due to the way I mounted the passive radiators- I have to re-do the distortion measurements- I think they are even better than what I initially posted.
