Hello, my Sony HCD-RG440 has not been used for the past 16 years. Now its doing some crackling sound, but not always. It changes with turning off/on. I tried contact cleaner, but no change. Does anyone have an idea why?
Did you clean all of the switches and pots?
If so, then the noise may also be from a bad solder connection, or a noisy part on the board.

Then poke around on the board with a pencil or other insulated tool,
and look for sensitive areas in the audio circuits (not the RF area).
If you find one, try resoldering that area.
Is the noise there even with the volume at minimum?
If so, the problem is after the volume control.
There's an awful lot of parts in there, hope you're more patient than I am.

Noise start around 8-10 volume level out of 40. If the sound/music very quiet i can't really hear it.
A pencil is definitely not insulated, its got a carbon rod up the middle. Then poke around on the board with a pencil or other insulated tool,
