This is the waveform taken with a current clamp (1:10) on live wire after EMI filter to VT100MK3 power socket. Why the current waveform doesn’t look like a sine ? The amplifier doesn’t has SMPS or digital switching , but why the current waveform looked so distorted ? Any idea how to rectify this ? Will this affect the amplifier sounds ?
The input current is a sine only if the unit has perfect power factor correction.
A passive supply does not, and the large current peaks are typical.
