I built a 3 way system 2 years ago. It has SB34 (8ohm) , AC 130F1, Seas 27TAC_GB. Question is are there tweeter upgrades worthwhile pursuing? will they reallly make an audible difference? I have a healthy budget to spend more but not $800 a tweeter Lol!
Have the 27TAC/GB running since a few weeks (with a series notch for the 27kHz breakup frequency) and really love it, it gave the speakers what I missed with the DXT before. I find the 27TAC/GB playing even a little better than Bliesma T25A in another speaker of me and it is one of the most "real" sounding tweeter I've heard, so I think will be hard to beat....
OK I dont have a notch filter on it, figured 27khz is way out of the hearing range for me. I do have measuring equipment. It sounds OK. Im just asking in general. It's one of those FOMO, where if you dont ask, you may not know.
Much of what you can do will be possible with the existing tweeter. It mostly wants your attention. It's one of those FOMO, where if you dont ask, you may not know.
The 27TAC can be used with custom faceplate (to use printed waveguide etc.) or it's like other SEAS 27 series tweeters, where the dome is attached to the faceplate?

Wolf,
Did you benchmarked a SB26 cdc or like in a WG (augerpro or others) VS the non horned Seas Titan, please ? I know already you have a sligthy preference with the Titan.
Some say the lower tweeter range and its overlap with the mid driver is more important than the spl curve of the tweeter ? I imagine it's a trade off of course !
What a pity the Titan has no more sensivity (it's 89.5/2.8V iirc).

I really love the 27TAC! If you have not tried the notch on it, it may matter to some more than others.
There is one shown in the xover for my EMP.
I found the EMP XO!! OK I see the RLC circuit for the Ultrasonic and the FS Comp. Is one more effective, audible than the other? Just asking as to what my expectations may be.
I do have a resistor across it and on the tweeter I am using Mundorf Supreme caps and on the mid a Jantzen and NP electrolytic
I am curious about this one http://www.seas.no/index.php?option...cd&catid=45:seas-prestige-tweeters&Itemid=462
Perhaps it needs a little notch in the knee at the beginning of its usuable frequency range (that unconfortable bump entered around 1500 hz that migth polute the overlap with the mid driver).
No rear chamber, made for car-audio I assume. But look at the p-p travel : twice the Titan p-p linear travel. I liked very much some Audax with the same look for car audio but with much higher Fs. Ok its ferrofluided, not better inductance than the Titan, but also seems not to need the post 20 k hz notch (caps can be heard as something coloring the sound when in serie).
Good point : it has fabric surround, so maybe an even better choice than the 27 TBC/G but still lower than the Titan of course.
What I wonder now is ho could be tuned the (hybrid) 22 TAF/-G ? .... !
I really wonder aboutt WG with small woofers (5") since some guys like fluid member for instance, said horn ( more focused sound in the room) VS wider tweeter dispersion is a matter of taste (I surmise in relation to the room of course) ?
ahaha at the end without assurance to what I buy for the tweeter I assume I will choose something I am understanding only :THD numbers, fault to understand more.
Btw, and to Jimbones too : have you already in your journey made overlapp in your filters between a mid and a tweet that had sensibility mismatch from because a low sensivity tweeter? For illustration a 89 dB and a 91 dB high end magnitude of a mid ? Is it a something to be avoided for a better sensivity match ?
I mean a sligthy diving curve is not bad at the sweet spot listening area lik Harmann curves, but tweeters also drop off axis rapidly at iso spl above 10k to 15khz.

The 27TAFNC will start rising in HD earlier than the Titan because of its motor and lack of chamber. The Titan has a full copper sleeve and damped chamber.
Did you calculate the notch filter on the tweeter or was it given by someone else on a different tweeter you adapted to yours? Reason I ask is the values don't equate to anything I come up with in my own HF notch filters I use on similar Ti and Alu/Mg domes.
