Hi Guys,
Is it a bad idea to recess mount speaker even if I chamfer the outer edge by 45 degrees or more.
Thanks

It's fine to radius the baffle to allow rear mounting of a woofer. With a FR it becomes difficult to say either way.
What FR?
We recommend a full 45° chamfer for a full range. You don’t want early reflections backthru the cone.

Many thanks Dave. Apologies should have be clearer in my description. What if I mount the FR behind the baffle would chamfer of 45 deg or more in front part of baffle help would the stop reflection ?
We tried that once. Didn’t realy like it. Will depend on the FR.
But if i was putting it on the front i would start with 45° and then round the edges further.

Thanks again Gents. Its a Coral Flat 8.
I believe this speaker was originally design for rear baffle mounting as the gasket is place in front & its got a circular recess on the stamped still frame for mounting

Thank you FreedomYou can model it with Polystyrol and measure it. If you put it from behind
That is pretty standard.
The gaskets are usually paper. I have often trimmed it off flush with the steel basket edge, and then rebate and mount from the front.
