Denon PMA-700V Amp Pot and DCD-1520 CD Player Lens Assembly parts

Hello,

I am new to the forum and joined looking for some help.
I own a set of Denon PMA-700V and Denon DCD 1520 which have been working well until two years ago.

The Denon Amp Balance potentiometer started failing and now needs replacement It is a 250K Pot.
The CD player Pickup Lens (KSS-151A) afiled and also needs replacement, preferably the whole CD Tray assembly

Is there anyone who can guide me to a source for these (Very) rare Denon spare parts?

Thanks and Regards,

Lucky for you, I happen to have a 700V on my bench right now. The balance pot on the 700V (and also on the 900V, FWIW) is just a plain-jane single gang linear pot, 5mm pin spacing, and with a center tap with detent.

Looking at the factory service manual, the schematic (for both models) shows it as 250kΩ, while the parts list says 200kΩ... 🤔

For my own edification, and since I'm such a nice guy, I went ahead just now and pulled and measured the balance pot in my 700V to try and get to the bottom of this discrepancy. Funny thing - it measures 225kΩ end-to-end 😆

The center tap isn't really necessary, the circuit will work fine without it. So just look for a 200kΩ-250kΩ potentiometer with 5mm pin spacing and you'll be good to go.

Wow @trs1 !!

Thank you so much for this.
Indeed it is strange that the manual, the parts list and the actual part all give different readings.
I will get one pot and test this, as it is the only thing wrong with the unit.

And I second that you are such a nice guy....

Hello trs1,

Thanks for your tip above, and I managed to get a 250K potentiometer. Just a quick feedback and clarification.
I removed the balance pot from the PMA-700V and it has four pins, three which are on the lower side of the rotary section and one pin on the top side, which from what I see from my multimeter measures like a centre-tap. Is this the one you indicate isn't necessary?

I will try to replace it withe the three=pin version and see....
