Hello everyone,

Some weird things have been happening to me recently. I have ordered KSA992 and KSC1845 transistors, but........I have received JCA992 and JCC1845. Both from Mouser among others. So, what am I missing out on? Has anyone tried these particular JCA992 and JCC1845 semiconductors?

I think just different manufacturers, The original 2SA992 and 2SC1845 general purpose transistors were common in lots of consumer equipment in the 80's. The originals will no longer be produced and these alternatives are just second source alternatives.

All transistors are moving over to surface mount, don't expect TO92 versions to be made for much longer, try FJV992 and FJV1845. Its the way of things that we'll need to use breakout boards for SMT devices for breadboarding, SOT23 for transistors, SOIC8 for opamps.
