What music would you recommend, when it comes to Classical Music?
What do you listen to with your amplifier and your loudspeakers?
I can tell about Mozart Piano Concerto No.21
It is really beautiful!

I listen to anything I want from classical, jazz, to techno, electronica, etc.
Maybe start with some of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos?
Brandenburg Concertos by Bach (look for chamber orchestra versions, not full orchestra)
Respighi
Aaron Copeland:
Modest Mussorgsky
Tons of other composers to check out, just a hint of the things I have found worthwhile. Countless others.

Now I have some good alternatives to try.
Think I will begin with Brandenburg for chamber orchestra.

This is one of my favourites, Schubert's Lieder

Lieder = Songs.
It is good to have some voices when we test our amplifiers and speakers.

I absolutely love the Tristan und Isolde string orchestra composed by Richard Wagner. Conducted by Edo de Waard and performed by Nederlands Radio Philharmonic.
My favorite piece is Mahlers 5th symphonie but I struggle to find a great recording. Any suggestions or more pieces along these lines?
Mahlers 5th part One tears me open each time. I have not found a piece of music that comes close.
Oh and lets not forget about Morarts Requiem. In particular Lacrimosa.
Cheers!

If you haven't already, I would encourage you to take in some live classical music performances.
Everybody loves Rachmaninoff's Symphony #2 (Yuri Temirkanov or Paavo Jarvi)
Edward Elgar Violin Concerto (Hilary Hahn)
Mozart Clarinet Concerto
Eclogue for Piano and string orchestra (Zinzi)
Mahler Symphony 5 - Adagietto
Rachmaninov Zdes' khorosho - (Tine Thing Helseth)
Yuja Wang plays Rachy

Among many other things, I like most of the cantates and organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, organ works of Dieterich Buxtehude, Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus, especially if performed by Le Banquet Celeste, the music of the 16th/17th century singer-songwriter John Dowland, especially if performed by Duo Serenissima, most of the work of Henry Purcell but particularly Dido's lament, and from the more modern stuff, Philip Glass and the Canto Ostinato of Simeon ten Holt, although I never heard the complete work.
A CD of Vivaldi's Nisi dominus performed by Le Banquet Celeste was the very first music I played on my valve DAC. I had heard them live a couple of weeks earlier at the early music festival in Utrecht, where I also bought the CD. It sounded very well, but there was this funny sound on the background between the pieces. I almost started debugging my DAC, but then realized it was simply the pump of the organ, which had sounded exactly the same in Utrecht.

Barroque.
Vivaldi Cello Sonatas and anything Vivaldi
Anything Handel
Anything JSBach
Many, many outstanding barroque composers, I personally prefer the Italians and the French.
Also earlier music
Try Jordi Savall for that

It's a very tricky question as there is soooo much music out there of so many different styles and we all have so many different tastes. What I would suggest is to to think about TV shows, adverts or films where you like the music and start hunting those pieces out. Then find more pieces by those composers. I'm not sure my recommendations would help as I leap 400 years in a few minutes sometimes depending on my mood. And some of my choices are not deemed music by the wife 🙂
Better what recommendations in classical music (for 'starters')?
Bach, Mozart, Ravel, Debussy, Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert... countless more.

I'm on my second copy of this -

after my grandkids coloured in and pulled a few pages out.
Excellent introduction to classical music.

My favourite is Scheherezade from Rimsky-Korzakov. Nice big orchestra and violin solos, colorful and enchanting.
Any performance of Ivan Moravec (especially piano solos)
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed is the first movement of Beethovens 6th symphony (Pastorale).
