Hi there,
besides the donut repair and some cosmetic workover (I'll plan to put some new walnut veneer on the cabinets), I want to replace the ferro fluid in the drivers. Now I read somewhere, that there are different ferro fluids available and each one might have a different impact. I have no clue about regarding that topic. Does anybody know what KEF used in the 104/2 and what I have to look for? Or do you guys think it doesn't matter and any ferro fluid will do?
Thanks
Boris

I used this one once to do up Mission 751 speakers.

Ferrofluid for tweeters roughly comes in 2 kinds: the stuff that dampens the resonance and the stuff that does not. I don't know which one you need. But before you take the trouble: a lot of the T33's don't perform any more and a lot of restorations end up in tweeter replacement. Like with these.
Thanks, the tweeters are still working. I was listening to the KEFs during the last months and did not detect any tweeter issues. It's more the "if I start working on them, I'll do a complete job" thing (even if I have no plans to work on the crossover)...
'Still working' of course is different from 'within factory specs'. I think it's quite hard to detect issues without measuring.

True - let's say they somehow perform, no idea if in factory specs, which leaves the question if I need the dampening stuff or the other...🤔
I took the description for gospel and understood that all ferofluid has dampening properties and that the viscosity differs.Ferrofluid for tweeters roughly comes in 2 kinds: the stuff that dampens the resonance and the stuff that does not. ' Ferrofluid improves the performance of high frequency and midrange drivers. It works by damping the impedance at resonance to effectively lower distortion, smooth frequency response, and increase thermal power handling.'
