Technics SL1200G turntable

@mot just wondering if you made progress on this?

According to the SL-1200GR service manual, the SMPS board inside the chassis outputs two voltages (24V and 5V).
My understanding is that the SL-1200G SMPS and the SL-1200GR SMPS are identical, although this would be easy to verify from the GR service manual and cross checking it with your 1200G (sorry I can't find a G service manual).
The commercial version previously referenced is here: https://precisionsoundlab.com/produ...ar-power-supply-for-technics-sl-1200-gae-g-gr - and it is presented as a replacement for both the G & GR. It seems have a toroidal transformer in an external chassis, and the rectification and regulation to 24v and 5v on the custom PCB.

Some screen grabs from the 1200GR service manual are also attached.

Have been looking at a similar PSU upgrade for the G or GR. For a diy approach, I would look at two super regulators in the chassis (as close to the load as possible, which unless mistaken is considered best practice) fed by an external chassis holding transformers and rectifiers, and perhaps some pre-smoothing caps, connected by an umbilical.

EDIT: looking again at the manual, it could be that the SMPS just puts out 24V and the 5V comes from the main PCB. Would need to measure at P2101 to verify.
