Combination?

Thinking of combining 2 of these drivers.
Alpair CHP-90, Alpair 10Maop, Alpair 11MS and Alpair 12p.
Is it possible to do this?
They have slightly different sounds.
They are all good in their own way. I doubt if it will work.
Maybe there is a solution?

I wasn't going to suggest doing it at all, it's just that the reasons are completely different depending on where in frequency you try.

I guess it could be a good idea for a 2.5way. If you used a driver with a slightly different sensitivity, you could modify the amount of baffle compensation. On the other hand you wouldn't get the 'sound' of the driver using it that way.

Another way to go is to use one, and find your sound with an equaliser.

In Japan, there are people who enjoy playing multiple speakers with different characteristics at the same time.
My friend use ALTEC 405-8H and FOSTEX FF85K with parallel connection.

I tried to play MAOP10 and CHP90mica with parallel connection, and they sounded perfectly comfortable. Especially the sense of scale is greatly improved.
I recommend LeifB60 to try various things.

I find dual drivers can equal better sound.
The drivers are moving 1/2 as far for the same output.
Jbl measured 1/4 of the harmonic distortion when you double up the drivers.

However.......................

The vertical sweet spot becomes very small.
I assume dual 3" with minimal frames would have the same dispersion as an 8" full range, meaning about the size of a head 7' away.
but the dual 3" has a much wider horizontal dispersion than the 8" full range.....
And dual 3" can be more pistonic past 2khz..........

but..............

an 8" will move more cone area (sd x xmax), and usually have a lower F3.

Lol, so, now that I have run around and finally caught my tail, I can't say what is better.
But at least you can know some +'s and -'s before purchasing anything !!!!!!!!!

I don't have any of these drivers, but do this kind of "stacking" a lot with complementary drivers (search "stacked" by me). Ideally one driver dominates very high frequency, unless the other driver fires up or sidewise as "bipole".
