Rotary switch for passive input selector

Looking to make a passive input selector for multiple RCA inputs into a single preamp input. Would like 4 input selections. I just dont understand the nomenclature enough to select a good switch on my own. If someone has a link to an acceptable switch I would appreciate it.

Certainly it has to be correct, but the advice here looks spot on. A couple extra positions looks like a good idea too. FWIW, I try to use the selector switches that are offered from Parets Connexion. They are pricey but made right, and not toSWITCH-73306 fail or pop or, etc.

You might consider a relay-based system instead. There are lots of cheap selector switch kits on the bay. You can replace the capacitors with name-brand, and install Omron telecoms relays with gold-flashed contacts.

Yup, Grayhill is usually a very good choice. Switches that are not open to the atmosphere are my first consideration. Contact surfaces are also important to me. Finally, I find it easier to get a "D" post for the knob and be done with it, rather than to have one of those 'one size fits many' attempts, split in the middle, and sometimes breaks off, leaving you with no choice but total replacement.

It might also be important to have a 'make before break' type so as to avoid the popping that happens in some circuits.
