I am building a tube power amp and I am doing the classic aluminum top plate and wood sides.
On these builds do people usually also add a bottom plate to enclose the electronics and seal up the amp, or is the bottom left “open”?
I can see pros and cons of both. If I added a bottom plate I’d have to perform the extra work and have it cut out so there is ventilation.

Nice job! . . . . . and on the side too. The texture looks 3D , is it? Nice colour too. What did you use?
That’s exactly what I need! You might like to use "perforated sheet metal". There are lots of places in or around TO where you can get it in many different materials and perforation patterns.
Where in Toronto could I find some (on the west end)?
Places like Home Depot or Lowes may have some stuff around , but specialty metal dealers will have more.
A Google of ("perforated sheet metal" Toronto) turned up these guys among a number of others. They have a few patterns to look at. Why not call them and see what/who they recommend close to you?
There's also McMaster-Carr to have a look at.
