NOS CRESCENDO film and foil capacitors 0.22mF @ 600vdc

a pair of nos CRESCENDO film and foil capacitors, 0.22mF @ 600vdc, long (4") leads. $60.00. These would make a perfect coupling capacitor in any tube amplifier. The price is for both.

I think you'll find they don't have 0.22mF (millifarad) 600VDC capacitors. That would be 220µF which would be an electro if you could get one 🙂
I'm guessing they are actually 0.22µF (microfarad) or for those who are getting out of the habit of using a decimal in a number they are 220nF (nanofarad).

Well 220nf@600V is a bit crazy.
First the voltage is max 2 V so you have a headroom at 598V
What type of cap you want is a religion.
Just because the cap is nice and shiny doesn't mean it's any good beside expensive.
Cap_Test
This is a very good guideline

You seem to have misunderstood a hell of a lot 😉
This is aimed at tube amps. Signal voltage may be everything between 0 and 20V (or more).
The 600 volt is DC rating, and has nothing to do with signal level, but everything to do with circuit DC voltage levels.
In the Humble made Hifi test, you link to, he also tests 800 & 1200V capacitors, so according to you, that should be
even more crazy 😀

It has to block the DC (in this case, usually a tube stage which has some hundreds of Volts), and allow AC (the signal) to pass through.
Hence, the 600Vdc rating is something that you may need. If you observe, most tube circuit coupling caps used is rated 400V and above.

This is how a thread goes haywire 😂😂
My bad...
I was searching CRESCENDO, The FET amp from Elektor Magazine, made in 3 Versions and didn't read the post fully:deerman: D'oh!
Sorry for that !!!

All deserve an answer 🙂
