Hi guys. I have a problem with the Pioneer CD player - multi changer side.
Skips forward / backward. I don't find any regularity when and why it does it, every time it's different.
Usually this is solved by lubricating the axis on which the lens moves, but in this case it is something else. I can't find trimmers to adjust focus/tracking gain
which could solve the problem. Optics are KSS-213C model W739
I made a video of the problem:
Your's advices will be appreciated.
Regards!

Have the service manual already? If not it appears to be available online: https://elektrotanya.com/pioneer_pdr-w739.pdf/download.html
Sometimes the AFC section of the servo board has weak capacitors that show that type of issues.
My Technics deck had that problem.

Sled Motor and/or Gears?
Measure the voltage across the motor as it plays (carefull if using a 'scope as your 'scope 'Ground' could cause damage if connected to the -ve of the Motor which may not be 0 Volts. Perhaps best to use a DVM if unsure how to connect the 'scope).
If you can see Voltage being applied to the Motor but the Motor doesn't turn.....................
Clean and re-grease (sparingly) the Gears.
Or replace the Motor if not the Gears.

If the mentioned gears are nylon/plastic, they don't require greasing, which could actually add friction and sluggishness to operation.
A tiny drop of light oil on motor bearings might be of use., as is some sparingly-applied very light silicone lube in the rails of the sled.
In some cases, those plastic gears can split at the hub, and the result of having a mis-aligned gear tooth causes binding of the mechanism.
It's usually the gear force-fitted to the motor shaft that splits.
I've done several with that problem.

Even with nylon/plastic gears, some grease is always advisable, especially for the sled gears, chattering can occur without the grease, which in this situation can cause problems. The grease adding some slight retardation which for the sled gears can be beneficial.

Nylon-poly gears have their own built-in lubricating properties.
Only if needed a very light smear of light grease is advisable.
Something like Super Lube synthetic lube is usable.

Hi again guys.
I'm writing late because I was waiting for a new Optical Pick-ups Bloc to arrive.
After the replacement, the problem seems to be solved. Whatever I tried before there was no result.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm sure they will help someone else.
Cheers!
