Burt Bacharach and Hal David penned musical bomb payloads - Dionne Warwick was their equivalent of a Scud missile delivery system for a while.. It's amazing, the story content they could pack into a 2-3 minute song. For an example, check out Warwick's "Are you there (with another girl)" - a whole exposition on paranoia, jealousy, and misplaced loyalty in under 3 minutes.

Although his music was a sort of "easy listening", it was really nice, who does not remember "Raindrops keep falling on my head" and so many more.

His music wasn't particularly to my taste, but WOW! What an exceptional songwriter he was. It's so sad to see the true Greats of music leave us as time passes ever more quickly as we ourselves age...
I remember travelling with my family back in 1968 when "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" came out - we must have heard that track on our car radio every 15 minutes, or at least it seemed that way.
