Does anyone out there have the circuit diagrams for the 551 Integrated Amplifier? I am trying to find out if there is a 110V tap on the primary or if the switch mode power supply is a universal one. Lots of switch mode supplies take anything from 90 to 250 volts AC with no changes.
Cheers,
Cheers,
SMPS have a switch, there is no primary as such.
If it has a transformer inside, it is a linear supply, not SMPS.
See the seller's specifications, American sets at times have only 110V supplies, no option for 110 / 220, which was there in some regions for exports from Japan.
This one is made by a small factory in UK, possibly sourced from China, needs special tools to open case.
See the back plate, sometimes voltage is mentioned.
So you got this from a 220V area, or what?
The remote works?
Best use a step down transformer of the correct rating.
These old sets may have obsolete parts.

I am looking for one with an MC card, there are plenty for sale in the UK but rated at 220V. I have the 504 tuner and the 508 CD player but I bought them here in the States. I am just looking for the amp's schematic.
