Opinion on RCF LF18N408

Hi there!
I am planning to build a couple of subwooferes for playing music aimed at the lowest notes, size limited to 200-220 litres.
And saw this driver by RCF, the LF18N408.
Xmax +/- 15mm. fs 30Hz
No comments on the web yet.
Has anyone used it?
I was planning to tune the box at 30hz.
Would it be recommended for this use?
What size to be used in a better way?
As well, seems to offer as well very good performance/price ratio both the Beyma 18PWB100 Fe and RCF LF18N405. Any opinions on those?
Thanks and regards from Spain.
Antonio

Greets!

No experience with these, but you can choose to the 1st approximation by calculating its upper mass corner (Fhm = 2*Fs/Qts) Vs your desired XO point and a max flat alignment to compare box size, tuning:

Vented net volume (Vb) (L) = 20*Vas*Qts'^3.3

Vented box tuning (Fb) (Hz) = 0.42*Fs*Qts'^-0.96

I have been eying that driver for some time for a new compact (140L, 600cm2 port BR). Have also considered the LF18N405 but 408 has an improved VC, longer travel spider and demodulating rings compared to the 405. BR is your best bet wih those constraints.

Here you go.

220L externally = 150.55L internally in a MTH type enclosure.

Using a parametric CAD and a 18mm plywood to reach the same results in terms of simulation It was required 317L

My original model only needed 292L vs 317L externally for 126.6 vs 126.26 dB's @ 35.20hz with 19.05mm vs 18mm wood.
Your throat (490.32 vs 500cm2) and mouth (1103.22 vs 1477.25cm2) are bigger.

292L = 29.25" H x 29.75" D x 20.5" W.
317L = 31.24" H x 29.38" D x 21.08" W.

But, I like your rising response better.
I try to design enclosures that are dimension friendly, like 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, or 1.00".

Units conversion are crazy. I understand you.

Maybe it's better to use international unit system while interacting in a global environment such as forums 🙂

Imperial units is the standard only in countries influenced from UK like USA but it's not the international standard LOL

It doesn't matter, people needs to be free to use what they like.

Ya'll lucky I don't use just in2 and ft3!

My problem is HR uses cm for enclosure dimension, yet folk use mm or m when posting enclosure dimensions. I would never post enclosure dimensions in yards or feet. I will state a horn length in feet...your body does have 2 of them 🦶🦶
