Packages and leads look real. Ask for input capacitance and pinout. The latter is definitive.
mine do not have "japan" or the logo symbol, other pictures of genuine parts i have seen also lacked these markings.
I believe the original Hitachi parts (the first ones to make these) had the Hitachi logo and "Japan"; I know mine from the 1980s did. I don't recall what logo Renesas used on devices when they took over.
Everything I've tried from Utsource has been fake when it comes to the no longer produced parts we want.
It seems like the game is to find a less desired Toshiba, Hitachi, non-audio use Mosfet with the same overall shape/case and change the lettering to something someone will pay a premium to buy. A good clue seems to be the price. If it's $3-4 a part, no longer in production or stocked, it's going to be fake or we'd all be buying up the stock. See the whole 2SK2087 SIT situation thread. Those parts lasted 2-3 days online before the whole stock was purchased and the price skyrocketed.
I've bought used 2SK1058/2SJ162 from member Pras1170 in China. I had to trim them off an old PCB. And I paid more than the Utsource price. I'll vouch for Pras1170 as a seller.
Or buy the Laterals from Profusion, like 2 Pico suggested. Genuine and inexpensive, fast shipping from the UK. Sounds great in my F7.
