Testing wouldn't be that much different than you'd do for the 21844 or other ICs. If you look up the datasheet, you can see that the output is nothing more than an FET driver in a common N-channel driver configuration.

Confirm that there is no short (or low resistance) between the output pin and the drain of the high-side FET or between the output and the source of the low-side FET. Place the red probe on the terminal that would have the higher voltage when the IC had power applied to it.
